Overview - FSAirlines in a nutshell

FSAirlines (FSA) consists of two parts - the Flight Tracker and the Crew Center.
After joining FSA you download the Flight Tracker from their website and run the program from your windows desktop at the same time that your flight simulator is running. The tracker records all the flight-information directly from  your flight simulator, generates a detailed flight-report and  automatically transmits it to our online Virtual Airline Management  System - the Crew Center.

Start at the Crew Centre (FSA website)

Just like in the real world to fly any plane you must be in the right place (ie correct airport), the plane must be there and a flight scheduled. To book a flight you go to the Book Flight option on the FSA website, there you will be presented with all the scheduled flights from your location that has a suitable aircraft to make the journey. If you cant fly then check you have the correct type rating (if not then request it).

Once the flight is booked you can start your flight simulator and the Flight Tracker program. The Flight Tracker will allow you to add fuel to complete the trip, UKD will pay for this (in virtual money). It is imperative that you add enough fuel or nasty things will happen, the least of which is you’ll need to divert. Don’t be tempted to put in too much fuel either! The consequences are not quite as dire but the financial implication is the trip will make a financial loss and as your wages are a percentage of the profit you won’t get paid!!

At the end of the flight the tracker analyses your performance and assesses wear and tear on the aircraft (so watch those landings!). Any fuel remaining will be there for the next flight. Importantly for the game you are now at the airport you flew to as well as the aircraft. If this is a UKD hub then there could well be other planes and routes for you to fly; if not your only options are to fly the plane onto somewhere else or leave it and buy a ticket with virtual money out of your wages to an airport of your choice.

After your flight has ended the profits (if any) are calculated and you receive a percentage (currently 15%) and UKD receives the rest as well as taking the hit on any losses. Aircraft need to be repaired periodically - more so if they are damaged - and purchased or leased. Crashes not only hurt the airline financially but also in reputation, which can only be regained by more successful flights. This ‘reputation level’ determines how many passengers and how much cargo you will attract on each flight.
You also receive a personal ‘score’ based on your performance and frequency of flights.

Some of the conditions the tracker checks:

  • start and finish at the correct airports
  • dont exceed 25kts whilst taxiing on the ground
  • stress on the aircraft including heavy landings and crashes
  • Landing lights on/off at the correct time

FSA has been in development for several years now and new features are added occasionally.
